Boy's Red Cotton Print Sleeveless Shirt and Tan Cotton Canvas Breeches

Since I had made so many outfits for my niece Rachel to wear to rendezvous, I felt it was only right that I have a few things done for her little brother Elijah to wear at PVR 2010.  Since he complained of being so hot last year and wouldn't wear the shirt I made for him because of that, I knew I would have to make something that would be comfortable and cool otherwise he would never get in it.  So, using the Eagle View Boy's Drop Sleeve Shirt pattern as a base (minus the sleeves of course) I made this top as well as a green one.  I wanted to make sure these would last at least two seasons, and as kids are wont grow so quickly, I decided a quick and easy breeches pattern with a drawstring waist and leg openings would be the best.  I used Simplicity Pattern #4944 which has no side seams on the pants and so they went together very quickly and easily.  (I am pretty sure I'm going to add these breeches to my merchandise as soon as I get my boys patterns all set).  Using Elijah's inseam measurement, I determined a desired leg length, put in a button hole for the drawstring, rolled the hem & stitched.  I did the same for the waistband.  Like I said, quick and so very simple.  He only wore is Green Outfit at PVR 2010 and not this one, but I did get him in it in at PVR 2011 (pictured).
