Growth Pleats
Rachel's Regency Dress & Bonnet

Well I asked Rachel last year at PVR if she would like another dress for this year's show and if so what color would she like.  Well to no ones surprise she said yes and promptly reminded me that she didn't have a green one yet.   In going through my stash I found this aqua colored paisley I had picked up thrift store shopping and knew that it would look terrific with Rachel's red hair.  Since she didn't have a regency era outfit yet, I decided to go with my short sleeve chemise dress pattern designed from the Rocking Horse Farm High-Waisted Dress Pattern (with some modifications as always).  I wanted the dress to last her for some time, so I even added in about 5 or 6 growth pleats that can be let out as she grows taller (trust me that these are no fun to put in but come in very handy down the line).  Although she already had an undecorated poke bonnet, I felt that since this was to be her birthday present I should decorate one up special to match the dress.  As usual, I didn't use any glue so the the ribbon and flower could be changed out later to match another dress if needed.  And as every woman/girl knows, no outfit is complete without the shoes, but luckily Wal-Mart had a black pair of ballet flats on sale for $4 in her size, so she will be all set with a new outfit for PVR 2010!
