Inspired by one of the hats worn by Kate Bekinsale (pictured), I just recently purchased a straw boater from Village Hat Shop to make into the following creation.  The material on the top is a pink polished cotton the matching ribbon is a Michaels find.  I plan on possible making more of these in the future and selling them (if there is any interest from customers) but I would like to make the top material fuller (I used a 9" width, but I think 11" or 12" would look nicer and drape better).  I left this one rather plain since most of my dresses are plain, but I would love to make fancier ones.  I concealed the hole in the top with a matching covered button.
