Much of my work, although costumes,
are designed to be worked and played in. They may not be 100%
historically accurate, but hopefully are 100% wearable. I
design my children's clothes to hold up and to cost as little as
possible, which usually means I make little to no money on my time.
I personally feel that no parent should have to pay a lot of money
for an outfit that their child will probably grow out of in 6-12
months, so I purchase almost all of my material on sale when I can
and pass that savings along to the customer. I have to admit,
one of the main reasons I started sewing back in 2002 was so that I
could make my own Rendezvous clothes since I couldn't afford to
purchase ready made ones. Since then I have been the main
supplier for my family's costumes. I don't have a picture of
everything I've made in this gallery, but this is a good
representation of my work. In 2002 I taught myself how to sew on a
1917 Franklin treadle sewing machine and made everything on that for
about 2 ½ years. After that I
switched to an electric machine, a computerized Brother, but I still
do hand-stitching when needed. Please
feel free to contact me about any of the items seen here for advice
or tips. I'm always happy to share what I've learned.
